At Thorgate, collaboration lies at the heart of impactful cooperation. Our partnership with Nordic Brain Tech (NBT), a Norwegian medtech start-up, is a prime example of how shared expertise and a unified vision can lead to shifting solutions in healthcare.

Together, we set out to address one of the most pervasive neurological conditions: migraines. By combining Nordic Brain Tech’s deep understanding of neuroscience and biofeedback technology with Thorgate’s expertise in digital product development, we created two groundbreaking tools: Brain Twin and Cerebri.

A shared vision for Brain Twin

The journey began with Brain Twin, a mobile application designed to help users track headaches, identify triggers, and monitor medication use. Through early MVP workshops, Thorgate and NBT defined a clear scope for the product, ensuring it met both user needs and technical feasibility within the given budget constraints. Thorgate’s technical team helped create a solid backend and provided additional insights for the user experience, while NBT led the overall direction and vision by providing the scientific and medical insights that were essential for the app’s functionality.

Since its launch, Brain Twin has been further refined within the NBT team and has become an essential tool for over 30,000 users in Norway and Sweden. This validates the effectiveness of this collaborative approach. It is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.

The evolution to Cerebri

Encouraged by Brain Twin's success, the partnership was extended by involving Thorgate in the development of Cerebri, a home-based biofeedback device that leverages real-time data to offer a preventive therapy solution for migraine treatment. This next phase required deeper integration between hardware and software, with NBT leading the research and device development while Thorgate focused on supporting the development of the accompanying backend and dashboard.

The wireless sensors measure key physiological indicators like tension, heart rate variability, and temperature, which are then analyzed in the app to provide personalized feedback during the sessions. This device represents a significant advancement in migraine prevention, making a biofeedback-based solution available at home.

More about Cerebri can be found on NBT’s official page: Cerebri – Nordic Brain Tech.

Collaboration beyond development

Together, we’ve tackled challenges like securing grant funding, refining user experiences, and preparing products for market entry. Our ongoing collaboration ensured that the solutions created effectively address real-world user needs.

A model for future partnerships

The success of Brain Twin and Cerebri highlights the power of collaborative effort. At Thorgate, we consider ourselves more than just a technical partner. We strive to build meaningful products while fostering long-lasting relationships and joint growth.

As we continue to work alongside Nordic Brain Tech AS, our shared commitment to improving lives through technology in novel healthcare solutions.
